The Difference between Black & White and Sepia

These illustration photos are from a different wedding than the rest of the site

We offer sepia and black and white photos with both digital and analogue.

DIGITAL

With digital we often do this for free for certain photos that will look good and it is easy to do on any photo we give you. If you want this option please put it on the contract & we will work it all out for you.

ANALOGUE

For analogue (film) photos it is totally different.

If you only want a handful of black & white photos we can offer this as a scan & change service - scanning the colour negative, changing to black & white & then printing.

But if you want a large number (ie more than 20) or you want to enlarge the black & white / sepia photos more than A3 we suggest shooting in black & white / sepia.

If this is the case we need to know before your wedding what types of effects you would like and for what parts of the wedding. This would mean we will have to carry two cameras - one for colour & one for black & white or sepia.

Sepia is basically the same price as colour but we do have to charge for carrying the second camera, for weight, difficulty and insurance purposes.

Black & White costs more than sepia especially in the printing stage.

Please email with your requirements for more details - I'm sure we can work something out!

These below samples are from Analogue (film), scanned negatives then converted to Sepia / Black & White. This is the worst way to do it - as the scan looses some detail. But as you can see the quality is still very high!

Black & White

Sepia

Sepia is very warm & has a rustic antique photo look.
Black & White is a classical old-school look
Colour is closest to what is actually there
